Looking for a speech and language therapy supervisor?

Date: 10th September 2026

Good supervision gives speech and language therapists protected space to reflect, develop their practice and think through the challenges that come with clinical work.

Finding the right supervisor, however, is not always straightforward – particularly for SLTs working independently, in smaller teams or in settings where specialist speech and language therapy supervision is not available internally.

ASLTIP’s Find Supervision directory helps speech and language therapists connect with independent SLTs who offer supervision. It can also support schools, healthcare providers, charities and other organisations looking to arrange external professional supervision for the Speech and Language Therapist’s they employ.

Finding the right fit

Supervision needs vary. An SLT may be looking for support relating to a particular clinical area, a new role, independent practice, professional development or the wider demands of their work.

Through the ASLTIP directory, you can search for members offering supervision online or in person and contact them directly to discuss:

  • their experience and areas of practice;
  • their approach to supervision;
  • what you or your team need;
  • availability, format and fees.

The directory is free to use. ASLTIP does not charge a referral fee or take commission from the supervisor’s fees.

Supporting trusted practice

Independent speech and language therapists contribute to the profession in many ways. Alongside providing therapy, many independent SLTs also contribute valuable supervision, specialist knowledge and professional support across the speech and language therapy workforce.

ASLTIP members are qualified speech and language therapists registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists. Those appearing in the supervision search have indicated that they offer supervision, giving Speech and Language Therapists and employers a useful starting point from which to explore the right professional match.

Because good supervision depends on the individual, their role and their setting, we encourage you to speak directly with a potential supervisor about their relevant experience and how they work before making arrangements.
