Lyndsey Allen

I’m Vice Chair of ASLTIP and a speech and language therapist with more than 25 years’ experience across independent practice, the NHS and the charity sector.

I joined the ASLTIP Board in 2023, initially as Director of Member Engagement, and became Vice Chair in 2025. Much of my work now focuses on helping ASLTIP listen to and support its members, strengthen our professional community and make sure the organisation continues to develop in ways that are useful to independent SLTs.

Alongside my work with ASLTIP, I continue to practise independently through Think Talk and Learn. I’m an LSLS Certified Auditory Verbal Therapist and have particular expertise in supporting children who use hearing technology and their families. Earlier in my career I was Director of Clinical Services and Head of Education at The Ear Foundation and have also worked in health innovation and professional development.

Training and sharing practice have been a big part of my career. I’ve spoken at conferences in the UK and internationally, contributed to published articles and research, and trained and mentored professionals developing their skills in Auditory Verbal practice.

Having worked across different sectors and in independent practice myself, I understand both the opportunities and the challenges of working independently. What I particularly value about ASLTIP is that our members run their own practices but don’t have to work in isolation. We’re part of a professional community that can share expertise, support one another and help shape the future of independent speech and language therapy.
