About ASLTIP

Supporting Independent Speech and Language Therapists Across the UK

ASLTIP is the UK’s national member association for independent speech and language therapists.

We support therapists working outside the NHS, advocate for the profession, and help the public find trusted, registered SLTs.

Whether you’re looking for speech and language therapy for your child, support after a stroke, or you’re a therapist seeking connection and community — we’re here to help.

What Is ASLTIP?

Founded in 1989, ASLTIP is a not-for-profit, member-led organisation run by and for independent speech and language therapists.

Our members work across a range of settings — including private practice, schools, clinics, charities, and academic or community organisations. Some work directly with families, others hold service contracts or are embedded within education teams.

All ASLTIP therapists are registered with the HCPC and the RCSLT, and are committed to delivering high standards of care and professional integrity.

What We Do

Our work is guided by three core functions:

Help the Public Access Trusted Speech and Language Therapists

We host a national directory of independent speech and language therapists. Whether you need help with speech delay, stammering, stroke recovery, voice, or swallowing, we help you find the right support quickly and confidently.

Be the Voice of Independent Practice

We advocate for the role of independent SLTs in health, education and social care.
ASLTIP amplifies the voice of our members through policy engagement, partnerships, and national events.

Support Members to Deliver High-Quality Services

We provide practical resources, events, peer networks and professional development to help our members grow, connect, and thrive in their work.
