Searching for a speech and language therapist can be stressful, particularly when you’re not sure who is currently available to take on new clients. To help take some of that uncertainty away, ASLTIP has introduced a new availability feature in our Find a Therapist directory.
ASLTIP members can now indicate whether they are currently accepting new referrals, operating a waiting list, or not currently taking on new clients. When you search the directory, results will automatically prioritise therapists who have capacity right now, while still showing you everyone who matches your other search criteria.
What the statuses mean
A few things worth knowing
Availability can change quickly, and it depends on a range of factors including where a therapist is based, their area of specialism, the age groups they work with, and whether they offer online or in-person sessions. So it’s always worth checking back if you don’t find what you need straight away.
If a therapist shows as having a waiting list or not currently accepting referrals, it may still be worth reaching out. Many therapists can give you an idea of when they expect to have availability, offer an initial consultation, or point you towards a colleague who can help sooner.
