ASLTIP is here to support independent speech and language therapists, and to help the public find professionals they can trust.
We’re a member-led organisation, grounded in shared values: professionalism, integrity, connection, and the belief that everyone deserves communication support that works for them. Our vision and values shape how we support our members, how we speak up for the profession, and how we help people access therapy that makes a difference.
Our Vision
A trusted and visible community of independent speech and language therapists, providing high-quality support to individuals and families, and supported in turn by a strong professional network.
Our Mission
We advocate for independent speech and language therapists across the UK.
At the same time, we support our members to build sustainable, ethical practices that suit the people they work with — and the way they want to work.
We help individuals and families access high-quality, independent speech and language therapy when they need it most.
Our Values
These aren’t just statements. Instead, they’re what guide us as a community.
Professionalism with heart We set high standards for ourselves and for our members, with empathy and care at the centre.
Community over competition We learn from each other. We share what works. We create space for support and connection.
Independence with accountability Being independent doesn’t mean being alone. We champion flexible working that’s grounded in responsibility, reflection, and integrity.
Inclusion that’s active We challenge barriers, respect difference, and commit to neuroaffirming, accessible ways of working.
Keep learning We don’t need to know everything — but we’re committed to growing, adapting, and improving, together.
ASLTIP’s membership has been growing rapidly since 1989. We are a support organisation run by our members. The executive board is always grateful for new members and new ideas.
