Apraxia of speech happens when the brain has difficulty planning and coordinating movements for speech. This may follow stroke, brain injury, surgery or a progressive condition.
Speech may sound slow, effortful or disorganised.
Speech and language therapists support speech clarity, build confidence and explore alternative ways to communicate if needed.
