Shiwani Kumar
She previously worked within the NHS and now practises independently, providing assessment, therapy, consultancy and training to families, nurseries and schools. Shiwani has particular interests in autism, developmental language disorder, social communication, emotional literacy and language development. She is experienced in completing autism assessments, including the ADOS-2 and BOSA, as part of multidisciplinary teams. Her approach is neurodiversity-affirming, practical and individually tailored, with a strong emphasis on helping children communicate, participate and advocate for their needs. Shiwani is a licensed Talking Mats trainer and has completed additional training in gestalt language processing, AAC, SCERTS, speech sound disorders and a range of evidence-based language interventions. She also supports education staff through bespoke training designed to create inclusive, communication-supportive environments and embed effective strategies into everyday practice with confidence.
