I am a fully qualified and highly experienced speech and language therapist working with families, nurseries and schools. In addition to this I regularly deliver training to speech and language therapy services and within educational settings.
I have many years experience working with children and young people with a range of communication difficulties often including early communication and particularly those that impact social communication including Autism and Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC).
Communication doesn’t develop in a bubble and ensuring that skills are considered within the context of the family and school is essential. This is to make certain the child is putting the effort into developing skills that are going to work for them in the real world. It is key that establishing new skills relating to communication feels enjoyable particularly when this is an area a child or young person finds difficult. Learning needs to be fun and worth the effort!
