I have over 30 years experience working as a paediatric speech and language therapist, including 17 years working within the NHS as a senior specialist assessing and treating a wide range of communication difficulties in children. Additionally I have worked in Special Education as an assistant advisor, preparing statements of special educational needs and providing advice to parents, schools and other professionals on matters relating to special education, including supporting a child’s communicative needs within the educational context.Having also worked as an executive director of the Equality Commission for NI,I have detailed knowledge of rights and responsibilities under equality laws, including disability legislation.I have specific training in a number of specialist areas including complex needs and speech sound disorders.
