I qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) in 2007 and have been working with children and young people ever since. I began my career working in Community teams supporting children from 3 to 19 years of age with a range of communication needs in various settings.
In 2014 I joined the NHS’ Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessment Team (ASDAT), becoming a Highly Specialist Therapist and an Autism Clinical Lead for SALT. I carried out neurodevelopmental assessments, and developed specialist knowledge in autism, neurodevelopmental conditions, mental health difficulties, trauma and attachment.
In 2020 I started working independently, specialising in diagnostic assessments for children and young people suspected of having autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions with www.cornwallautism.com. I have also recently joined the Oaktree Academy for 1 day a week supporting the communication needs of pupils at the school who experience social, emotional, mental health, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviours.
