I provide specialist therapy to children, adolescents and adults who have a traumatic brain injury or cerebral palsy. I usually visit clients in their own home, school or college and work closely with families, school staff, case managers, other therapists and support workers. Therapy may involve identifying and implementing strategies to enhance communication and cognition, staff support and training and when appropriate, direct work on speech, comprehension and expressive language skills. I have experience of augmentative communication, including use of communication aids and signing & symbol use and regularly support clients with alternative and augmentative communication systems.
