Lorna specialises in supporting individuals with neurological conditions, stroke and other acquired brain injuries to overcome communication and swallowing challenges. She has particular expertise working with clients with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and is a contributing author to the consensus recommendations for speech and language therapists in this clinical area.

Prior to starting Illuminate Speech Therapy, Lorna worked for 12 years at the UK’s largest dedicated specialist neurological hospital The National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery. Her experiences there honed skills in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of conditions and their associated symptoms. She holds additional certification in the management of facial palsy from The Facial Therapy Specialists International.

Lorna draws on her experience of health coaching (National Centre for Behaviour Change), to better equip clients and their support networks with the knowledge, skills and confidence to be active participants in their care and achieve their self-identified goals.
