We don’t currently have capacity to offer speech and language assessment and therapy I’m afraid. There is a national workforce shortage of speech and language therapists; around one in four posts in both NHS and the independent sector are vacant.
If your child attends an educational setting – ask for a meeting with the Inclusion Manager or the SENCO / SENDCO (special educational needs / disability co-ordinator) as they have often have training / qualifications around supporting children with speech, language and communication needs.
“Speech and Language UK: Changing young lives” is a charity with excellent advice on its website. You might find an online course to attend to enable you to help your child.
Elklan Training Ltd is another organisation which offers high quality training for parents and education staff.
If you have a child who is late to talk try the excellent online course from “SaLT By The Sea”
