I have 35 years’ experience working with adults with acquired communication difficulties. After many years in specialist in-patient neuro-rehabilitation as part of an interdisciplinary team, I now work for a charity supporting people with neurological conditions in the community. I have also worked as a Court of Protection Visitor for the Office of the Public Guardian, providing deputyship supervision and assessing mental capacity.
My special interests include: aphasia and dyspraxia following stroke or brain injury; Parkinsons Disease and related diagnoses; acquired brain injury; cognitive communication difficulties. Working in the community has highlighted the challenges of living with a communication disability, and strategies which make a difference. As a therapist I aim to work with people and their families to make meaningful positive change.
