She is instructed in medical negligence, brain injury and catastrophic injury cases, with particular expertise in complex communication and swallowing disorders, from subtle, difficult-to-quantify impairment to profound communication disability.
Her practice focuses on robust, evidence-based assessment where the clinical picture is nuanced or contested, including cognitive-communication and executive dysfunction, providing clear, defensible opinion on functional impact to assist the Court.
Morwenna has worked across regional brain injury and community rehabilitation services. She holds a PhD in respiratory assessment in dysphagia, undertook post-doctoral research in brain-computer interface applications in aphasia. She maintains her links with the mindBEAGLE programme in Graz for the assessment of minimally conscious patients.
Morwenna provides expert reports nationally and internationally, including for the Coroner’s Court and undertakes intermediary, safeguarding and fitness-to-practise work. She is a committee member of the RCSLT Medico-Legal Clinical Excellence Network.
