I specialise in speech disorders in all ages. I have many years experience in speech disorders associated with structural problems, including cleft palate, submucous cleft palate, velopharyngeal dysfunction, and 22q11 deletion syndrome . Speech is characterised by sounding too nasal as though it is coming down the nose. Often consonants are produced incorrectly causing intelligibility problems. I use a range of specialist investigations to understand the basis for the speech problem, and to make recommendations for management. I work within a team of specialists at Great Ormond Street Hospital, central London, who I can refer to if required.
Most recently I have been involved in developing an online resource to support therapists and parents in intervention for these types of speech difficulties. www.SpeechatHome.org,
