Hi Susannah
It looks like your client has cognitive issues which can be hard to treat. Regarding semantic impairment, I start with input rather than encourage verbal output.
Adamovich , Henderson Auerbach have good approaches for assessment and treatment .
Roughly , this is the list they suggest avoiding verbal output as much as possible.
-Activate non verbal response to any stimulus: tactile , auditory, visual, verbal and non – verbal sounds , oral motor stimulation ( lollipop)t
:Discrimination:to diffrentiate or compare 2 stimuli.
–Categorization: shapes, words, letters , pictures.
-Sequencing: linguistic , shapes, daily activities.
-Daily tasks: shopping list
– Memory tasks.
-Attention tasks
