I completely agree with these discussions. My additional worry is there are under qualified and not even qualified therapists (undergraduates or assistants) commanding rates as high as £4K + a month through agencies who don’t have the clinical skill set and experience to undertake the role well. Agencies are putting anyone and everyone forwards. No commitment to roles, no staying power with harder to reach client groups, agencies seem to let them leave with a weeks notice. It’s a worrying positioning for children and adults requiring SLT right now. Also we’ve have two years of COVID with the international boarders being shut (plus Brexit) and the UK realising we need to increase our work force, but still no developments. It shows how much we relied on our EU slt’s and international Slt’s.
