I charge an approximate per minute travelled travel fee. As the expense to do with travelling is more about the time lost due to travel rather than the mileage/ petrol used for me. I charge less than my clinical hourly charge (approximately half the rate of my clinical time). (as travel doesn’t use up any addiotnal time for notes or planning, wheras clinical time does). Then to save time working out every single journey I just set flat fees to the areas near me, based on the approxiate rate mentioned above. e.g. any sessions to area A are £12, to area b are £20 and to area c are £25 which saves a lot of time calculating exact travel times.
