Just picking up on Jessica’s comment about using core vocabulary intervention (CVI – a la Barbara Dodd), I am concerned to hear that someone is suggesting to use it with DVD/CAS kids as a diagnostic approach. That is really not what the evidence would suggest at all. I wonder whether it was my course on core vocab and inconsistent phonological disorder (authorised by Barbara) that this came from – where I suggested that, with early DVD/CAS, you can try to elicit some highly functional words to help communication skills – but definitely NOT to use CVI, as this will only work with kids with inconsistent phonological disorder. Hope that helps? Happy to chat via email if that would be helpful?
