I provide genuinely holistic and high quality therapy, supporting healthy and vital communication for everyone.
As well as my training and experience in the field of speech and language therapy I also draw on influences from my training in yoga and somatic practices, incorporating a body-centred and trauma-aware approach to all that I do.
I specialise in working with children who have difficulties with speech development. This can include speech difficulties as part of a complex profile, including difficulties developing language and/or social communication skills. Having worked in the NHS, charitable and independent sectors, and in a range of settings, and I draw on a wide range of experience and training in child and adolescent mental health, bilingualism, neurodevelopmental disorders and speech sound and motor speech disorders. As part of this, I use the PROMPT philosophy and approach to assessment and therapy, which you can read more about here:
https://promptinstitute.com/.
I am a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and Health and Care Professions Council and DBS cleared. Specialist training I have undertaken and apply throughout my practice includes:
PROMPT introductory and bridging. Live inclusive storytelling levels one and two. Music for communication development. Early childhood stammering (Palin parent child interaction therapy). Somatic approaches to therapy, trauma and the nervous system. Voicework (supporting wider health through voice practices). Child and adolescent mental health including play therapy techniques. Evidence based practice in speech disorders.
I receive regular specialist clinical supervision relevant to my clients.
Alongside my clinical work I am also involved in research at Newcastle University.
