I am an experienced clinician with many years of practice behind me. I work in a range of settings with children and young people of all ages from preschool into early adulthood. My skills and expertise lie in supporting the communication of children who have very complex needs and are often non-verbal.

My work focusses on the priorities, concerns and goals of the young person and their family and goals for my intervention are always functional. Where teams of professionals are already involved I work collaboratively with them and aim to create shared goals.

I can provide:

  • assessment of skills
  • training of others to enable them to support the young person competently and confidently
  • direct therapy for clients in their own home or in any other significant setting
  • support in social activities to ensure skills are generalised to everyday life

In addition to a broad range of therapy techniques, I have a very strong background in using more specialist strategies too such as:

  • Intensive Interaction
  • Positive Eye (approaches for children with Visual impairments)
  • Attention Autism
  • Signalong
  • PECS and symbol communication systems (lo tech AAC)
  • Hi tech AAC systems including eye gaze
  • Switches and other technology

I am also an ELKLAN tutor and am licensed to deliver ELKLANs training packages independently. This includes courses for parents to support their understanding of their child’s communication.
